Dr. Michael Holland (Member for Bega) and Mr. Russell Fitzpatrick (Mayor of Bega Valley Shire Council) officially opened the new facilities at Sapphire Coast Anglican College.
The Bulls successfully applied for a NSW Government Stronger Communities Grant that allowed us to replace the synthetic at SCAC, build a storage shed with kitchenette facilities and purchase some portable seating.
In partnership with SCAC the Bulls are pleased to have this great new facility available for the upcoming season. SCAC will be used for junior games on Saturdays and some lower grade games on Saturday afternoons and be our home base for our Women's team.
Dr. Holland congratulated the Bulls and SCAC on the partnership and the work done. Dr. Holland noted the importance that community cricket played in physical and mental health in rural communities and also congratulated the Bulls on their inclusive approach with male and female players of all ages welcomed into the club.
Bulls President, Rod McDonald thanked Dr. Holland and the NSW Government for the grant and also noted the important support Bega Valley Shire Council had given the club with letters of support for both this grant and the upgrade to the nets at George Griffin Oval.
Rod also thanks SCAC Principal David Proudlove and Deputy Jay Trevaskis for their focus on building capacity within the local community by allowing SCAC facilities to be utilized for community sport. The SCAC P&F catered for the event brilliantly.
The Bulls would also like to acknowledge the work by local businesses in producing such a great facility and make special mention of Jay McWhinney who has spent the last 4 weekends building the shed with a team of questionably skilled apprentices!
